Conversations at a Yum Cha Restaurant - Saxophone Quartet and Piano Version
This arrangement is for saxophone quartet (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones) and piano. It is transposed from A major to F major to accommodate the new instrumentation.
The original work is a part of 'Joy Luck Pub', which is a multi-movement collaborative work for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano. The sheet music for the original version is also available on this website.
The name of the project is based on Amy Tan's novel 'Joy Luck Club', and it came via the collaboration between a writer, four composers and five instrumentalists, funded by the Australian National Academy of Music.
I composed this movement based on the conversations and gossip overheard at a Yum Cha restaurant.
